The Schemer cable spiking gun can be clamped to any cable to 100mm in diameter. From a safe distance of 10 meters the operator causes a blank cartridge to drive a 30mm wide chisel into the cable. This Causes a short circuit in a LIVE CABLE and thereby the protective gear to operate the circuit tripping switchgear.
When extending an existing cable network it may be necessary to cut into a power cable. Although the circuit may have been switched off and locked out, if there are several cables at the site of cutting it is possible to cut into a LIVE CABLE IN ERROR. A Schemer cable spiking gun can be used to cause a short circuit in the event that the selected cable is actually still 'LIVE'.
